The Cove

is a movie about dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan. I don't have much to say about the film, but I thought I'd mention it since it's about dolphins. It's weird to see people kill dolphins, which I guess is what this blog is about: How do we make sense of ourselves and the things that move us?

---------------

I went clubbbbbbbbb hopping in Petaluma this weekend. Speaking of moving things, we went to a bar with walls covered in taxadermy and old guns. After, we went to a club that played top 40 hip-hop and was attended by girls with flat-ironed hair in stilletos. They were all smaller than me, darker skinned, and looked worried as the bouncer checked their ids. The club made me feel sexy. I love looking at women in their skimpy outfits. The men tried hard, in puffy jackets and scrubbed sneakers, manicured facial hair and jewelry. It reminds me of how Rafael looked when we first met. I wanted to lick them.

We went to a country bar where everyone was line-dancing, underage and white. I thought I'd landed into a different era as we side-stepped and turn-abacked and stomped. Then the DJ flipped on the strobe lights and turned up the base. The music changed to racy songs about lollipops and champagne. Everyone grinded against each other and kissed.
