When I'm not fielding off hordes of letters regarding Sarah Palin, I've been researching dog adoption. And this website rules: Bad Rap, all about Pit Bulls, who definitely have my heart. I'm considering adopting one, but I have concerns about what the community will think. Which is dumb and teenage-like, but I don't want people to run away from my dog. Maybe a pit-mix?
Plus, I've been reading a lot about rural living, and am starting to really dig living in a more rural place. Me and my dog are planning to rock the country. And you should come visit, soon.

Especially in the Bay Area, people are either going to run towards or away from you if you're walking around with a pit or a pit mix. They are strong and need a lot of training and tons of socialization all of the time to keep them tame. Otherwise, they'll get too loyal to you, their pack leader, and they have the capability to do real damage when they feel you are threatened. I would absolutely own a pit bull again, but bear in mind that in the first year alone, Damien cost us somewhere in the vicinity of $5000.
