an aerospace industry, and no one went anywhere on planes? We wouldn't have FedEx, or tourism, and the presidential races wouldn't look the same. Or what if there were still planes, just no industry?
I'm wondering about industry, about the giant beastly machines that create goods, of tennis shoes and automobiles. Can we run without shoes?
It seems like we've reached a point of no return - that we have to populate our world according to industrial standards or we risk seeming like the third world. Not to be all doomsday about it, but the game's already over.
We already have stores that specialize in selling trash.
